The Promise of Blooms to Come

Early spring is the harbinger of life and to grow shrubs it is the best time of the year. In gardening, large shrubs are used in the entrance areas to enhance the scenic beauty, while the smaller and the more economical shrubs are planted in distant beds. As soon as the soil is dry the shrubs are planted, the mixture of warm soil and cool air allows the soil root to penetrate deeper inside the earth. Pruning of the branches from time to time is necessary for the proper maintenance of the garden. Gardening is an idea, a product of a fertile brain and an arty soul. Gardening and landscaping is incomplete without gorgeous shrubs, for at least a season or two. Some shrubs have beautiful barks and fruit and bring color and tenderness to the landscape throughout the year. Hydrangeas have a variety of size, color and shapes. All the different varieties of Hydrangeas require a steady supply of moisture and thrive best in rich soil. The shrub tilts too much in direct sun but require adequate sunlight for its growth. So, shady place is preferred for this plant, particularly in the Southern Zones in which they grow in plenty. They have large leaves and a coarse texture. The flowers are usually pink or blue and the color depends on the pH of the soil. They appear any time between early spring and summer.

Viburnums look like Hydrangeas, and produce green, gray or even red hue. The texture of the leaves is glossy and smooth. Gardening and landscaping is incomplete without the Laceleaf staghom sumacs that are deciduous shrubs, producing fern-like foliage. It becomes intense violet at the time of its fall and looks splendid. These shrubs are associated with the cousins poison sumac, poison oak and also poison ivy, so are avoided by many gardeners. Japanese Maples, Dogwood are the other types of deciduous shrubs. Fothergilla produces brilliant orange yellow or red flowers while Weigelas are a favorite for the hummingbirds. Deciduous barberries and Lilacs are the other forms of flowers that are preferred for Gardening and Landscaping because of their beauty. The best form of evergreen shrub is Pine. In this variety Mugho belongs to this category and consists of needle like leaves and have a great variety and color.

Spruce and Junipers are the most famous varieties of evergreen shrubs and they prefer acid soils like Pines. Arborvitae, Chamaecyparis, Yew, Hemlock, Microbiota is the other varieties of evergreen shrubs that are indispensable for Gardening and Landscaping. The shrubs are rugged, elegant and are also bushy. They need special care and attention. Pruning should be done from time to time, in order to avoid unequal growth of the branches and an ugly shape. Fruit bearing shrubs like Fresh berry shrubs and the black berry shrubs attract not only the passerby by its scenic beauty but the birds as well who find a real good time with them. Shrubs are said to be the real beauty of Gardening and Landscaping because the can be easily grown and enhance the beauty of the garden to the maximum extent.
