While gardening, applying soil borne herbicides can be of great effect. Pre-emergent herbicides are effective enough to prevent germination of early weed seeds. During gardening, large scale of systematic weeding should be carried on. Liquid germicide sprayers and even helicopters are used for present farming lands. During landscaping or gardening, livestocks should not be allowed to gaze as weed control chemicals are poisonous. Weed seeds germinate faster; their seedlings grow quicker; they also flower earlier; and the major characteristic is, they form seeds in abundance. Again they mature ahead of the crop they affect. Nature has bestowed these characters on weeds. So, their seeds are collected unwarily. They have the outstanding capacity to germinate under diverse conditions, but typically they are season-bound. The peak period of germination always takes place in certain seasons commonly.An additional characteristic of the weed seeds is the possession by them of the phenomenon of dormancy which is an inherent physiological supremacy of the seed to control germination. The crop-weed maintenance is indeed a troublesome process. A prudent farmer can distinguish and prefer the most effective way of weed elimination. Integrated weed control is an integral part of modern farming. Introduction of foreign element like weed can immensely cause damage to the soil fertility, so several other soil preservation methods are necessary. The cropping methods should be thoroughly controlled while controlling the weeds using chemical herbicides. An interesting way to control weed is by using herbivorous fishes. In aquatic vegetations, herbivorous fishes feed on the weeds, thus weeds are easily eliminated. So, while gardening, it is crucial to know the exact procedures of weed control for better growth of the plants and crops. |
